Good evening to all. I am tired- got on the water with buddy Yano Serra this morning at dark-thirty. We fished hard most of the day on Grand Bay and the shoals of the bay for specks.
The bite was scattered and hit or miss. We wound up with a mess of good trout, but it was not fast fishing. Yano caught most of the fish, but that's the way it usually goes.
We used live shrimp, Mirrolures, jigs, topwater- just about everything worked a little bit.
This picture should show why the first bit of advice we give freshwater anglers when they come fishing down here is "Don't grab the fish by the lip!"
Good fishing to all- Ed Mashburn |

| Good morning to all- No, speck trout are not the worst when it comes to teeth. Any of the mackerel and snappers are much worse- they will cut you a new hiney in just a moment if you handle them wrong. I hope to go mackerel fishing next week. good fishing to all- Ed Mashburn |

Ed, Not sure if you were there or not, but your pictures always make me miss my time on Dauphin Island. My weekends were spent kayaking around aloe bay for specks, point aux pines for reds and flounder fishing the east end jetties.
I need a trip down there soon. _________________ "For hours and hours I am led on by what may be the defining allure of a small stream: curiosity. Whats coming in the next bend, next plunge, next pool." |
