Every article/review I've read says the NRX is the best thing since sliced bread. Being the gear-whore that I am, I've been wanting one since they came out. The only thing holding me back was the ugly-a$$ed, blue guide wraps on the natural colored blank...I just couldn't get past them. Well, now they've released them in green, and my obsessive-compulsive self thought, 'man, that would look good matched up with a green Galvan Torque T-8'. Boy, was I right...
First impression is good. The rod appears to be well made, and the workmanship is top-notch. The cork seems to be a little better than what's on my other top-end rods. It's got a green woven graphite reel seat insert - nice. The guides, including stripping, are all black, REC recoil. A nice touch. They tout this as a saltwater rod, so I thought the stripping guide would be just a little bigger. I figured it might be an illusion, seeing it's a recoil guide instead of your standard guide. So, I compared it to a 7 wt, and it's probably 2 mm smaller. Oh well...
After I do a little yard fishing, I'll post up more thoughts based on my feeble casting skills... _________________

Yeah, you're too cheap. Unless someone's trying to sell a used one for next to nothing, you wouldn't own anything G. Loomis makes. _________________ "It's only funny til someone gets hurt.... Then it's hilarious!" - Anonymous |

I went out & cast in the yard today. The rod is light in the hand and has a light swing weight. I figure one could fish it all day, and not have your arm fall off.
It'll sling some line - better than my Legend Elite 8 line.
I'd like to see Dirty or someone else who is a good caster put it to work. I figure it'd dump an entire line with no problem, in the right hands.
So far, so good... _________________
