The first time I saw one of these, long before I ever considered trying to tie my own stuff, I said...kinda like Gene Simmons in Christine Sixteen..."I've got to have you". So, when I ran across a good deal, and Uncle Sam gave me some bread back, I went for it...
It comes with everything one would need, in a nice, neat package. It all fits in a C&F waterproof fly box. You get the vise, bobbin, scissors, hair stacker, dubbing twister, half-hitch tools, whip finisher, bodkin/dubbing brush, hackle pliers, hair comb, and a magnetic hook pallet.
All the tools are top-end, hefty, and very well made.
The vise is pretty small, but adequate. It has course/fine adjustments to hold the hook. I figure this thing is really geared toward tying small trout flies, but the manual says it will hold up to a 3/0 hook.
To test it out, I tied up a Redfish Candy on a size 2. The jaws held surprisingly well.
The vise/base is pretty dang stable for its size. I was pleased, as I only needed to steady it when I wrapped the thread tight. I do the same thing with the Renzetti, so no biggie.
My only complaint is the bobbin hanger is really close to the jaws, so there's not a lot of room to work with a bigger pattern. Oh well, you can't have everything...where would you put it?
Overall, I'm pleased. I see this getting some good use. _________________

C&F Design Marco Polo Fly Tying System. And, no I didn't pay MSRP.
I'll be tying up several of those. It's a pattern that I ripped from a guy who I've ordered from. It's supposed to be Redfish killer. I'll be doing some up in this color, black with both purple & chartreuse heads, and chartreuse with pink & red heads. Those are his big sellers. We'll see... _________________

According to one of the pics you're dipping Grizzly. It must've cost a small fortune. _________________ "It's only funny til someone gets hurt.... Then it's hilarious!" - Anonymous |

I was going to say something about that but after my usual store was out of copenhagen one day and I had to buy a can of grizzly I have to say it's not bad. I haven't changed brands completely but it will do in a pinch (no pun intended). _________________ Of all the things I've lost, my mind I miss the most! |
