I also have a question, Are you allowed haul you kayak closer to where you want to fish or does everyone set in in one location and have to paddle from there?
The rules are not real clear on this point. |

Is this common? Are they supposed to drag the fish on a stringer or basket or something? |

Winning the tournament gets you 100 points
Coming in second gets you 199
Coming in third gets you 198. |

| Yes. This is a live weigh in. However means necessary for you to get your live fish to the weigh in. Some folks have a livewell, some a stringer. A 1 lbs penalty for a dead fish is a substantial penalty considering most tournaments are only 4 oz. or 8 oz. No. You can not load boat and launch at another site. Yes. Its all the BS of bass tournaments without the fast boats. We had a trial run last summer, and things went well. We already have 14 pre-paid and 19 members. The thing is we wanted weight not length to be the determining factor in this trail. Not for everyone. Glad you pointed a few of those errors to the rules page out. |

Mike did you do the math? Looks like 2nd would be the winner. No I did not read the rules... the only way I keep a fish any longer that to take a photograph, would be to kill and eat it. Thats just me... it ain't for everybody |

jcone, I sincerely hope you reconsider the live weight in a kayak tournament. You are severely limiting your market with this, and I for one can not support it. If you would like to discuss this further PM me and I'll supply you with my cell number. I don't claim to speak for everyone but my best guess is that 90% of the members of this board wouldn't support it. Kayaks don't have aerated livewells for fish. Way too rough on the fish. I'm not bashing your idea. I am for anything that promotes recreational kayaking and encourages people to get outside.
Just out of curiosity, why is weight more important than length? They're both equally arbitrary for comparing fish to one another. With today's technology, there's no reason to keep them. _________________ "It's only funny til someone gets hurt.... Then it's hilarious!" - Anonymous |

I didn't do the math. That is straight from the rules for this little fish killing event the original poster is hosting. |

I'm sorry to say BUT I can not support this type of an event either.
If you catch a bass early in the day and have to try and keep it alive till noon, in the heat of the summer in Alabama will stress the fish out to much.
I do agree that N.Alabama area does need this type of event, BUT not a "Kill all the Fish you catch" event.
Just my 2 cents worth. |

| Sadly, I foresee some really quality, dead fish being the result of this. Just my two cents, but CPR (Catch Photo Release) is the way to go for a kayak tourney, if you want to even out the odds for everyone. Otherwise, the few who may have some sort of livewell will have an unfair advantage over those who don't. I can't support this in it's given format, sorry. |

| Agreed. It doesn't make sense to tote around fish throughout the day. Pass out bracelets with a code or something so they can take measurements and pics with the bracelets to prove the catch. No need to put a bunch a fish on a stringer and possibly kill them for a tourney. |
