From the Editor

Welcome to Florida River Fishing! If you are a Floridian, you should know that the rest of the fishing world is insanely jealous of you! Florida is blessed with over 2,000 miles of coastline and has some of the world's most famous lakes and reservoirs. The state of Florida sells over 1.5 million licenses per year, and the toughest question most of these people have to answer is "Geez, where do I start?"

With all the deserved acclaim Florida receives as a fishing destination, Sunshine staters must often contend with crowded fishing conditions, be it in the salt or on the lake. While there's not much that can be done about all the competition in these places, we can lead you to some places that offer great fishing and very little fishing pressure: Florida's freshwater rivers and creeks.

Fishing is supposed to be a simple pastime, but a large chunk of the fishing that gets done in Florida requires big, expensive boats with more electronics than the space shuttle. River fishing in Florida, for the most part, simply requires a small motorized boat, a canoe, or maybe even just a pair of old shoes in which to wade. Thusly equipped, you are ready to experience Florida's natural beauty and unbelievable fishing with very little expense and inconvenience.

As Florida River Fishing continues to grow in terms of content, I would encourage you to register for the FRF Message Board (click the link up top to get there). Over the coming weeks and months, you will be able to talk fishing with other Floridians who share your passion for river angling. By the way, that's all you need to do in order to become an FRF member, and once the board really gets going you will find it a very addicting place.

In the meantime, I would encourage you to poke around the website and if you have any suggestions or would care to contribute an article or trip report. Ultimately, this website belongs to those who love to fish in Florida's rivers and streams and your input will help make FRF even better!
