floated a section of the deep this morning..... caught aprox 8 bass all nice and chunky 1-2 1/2 lbs.......lost 1 nice 1 and missed 2 others that were big....saw tons of bass in low clear water...........nice morning, saw osprey, aprox 20 ducks..geese..blue heron, 2 white egrets and 1 river otter who stood up to ck me out..............
this pic is of white pines growing on a bluff beside the river......they are on both side but this is an unique regenerating stand that is isolated by at least 150 miles from the nearest natural whitepine forest....also unique is you have a natural white pine forest withing 10 miles of a longleaf pine forest.......
1st bass of the day
and avg caught today
need rain!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Man, those are some pretty healthy-looking bass! They look really dark, kinda like the ones from coastal, blackwater streams. That's a really pretty river too. That's pretty neat about the white pines, too.
By the way, I've got to come up to Greensboro sometime. Most likely late September or October. I should be able to fish on a Friday or Sunday or maybe both if you can.
Thanks for the report!

Great report as usual Mack. Nice bass. Where I come from, mountain folk have a poor opinion of white pines. They tend to break easy in high winds or when they get loaded with snow and ice. Many cut down any that are remotely close to their houses or other structures. _________________ How far can you run, standing deep in the flow? FJB |
