Tying in Lead Eyes

Postby nielson » Wed Jun 17, 2009 12:48 pm

This is a tip I thought I'd share. I picked it up from a guy at a fly show a few years ago and found it useful. It's a way to tie on barbell lead eyes for clousers, LEWBs, etc, that helps prevent the eyes from rotating around the hook.

The tip: After making however many figure-8 wraps you normally use to secure the eye, take another set of wraps(5-10) around and beneath the eyes but not under the hook. This cinches up the previous wraps and makes for a more secure tie-in. It only takes a couple extra seconds and only uses a little more thread.
